Pottering of a bicycle run on the Kubiki cycling road. Vol.１

Kubiki cycling road is a large-scale bicycle road with a total length of about 32 kilometers connecting Joetsu City and Itoigawa City.  It is parallel with the Sea of Japan and National Route 8, and you can enjoy cycling with good scenery and a Pleasant feeling.  You can go on a day trip from Nagano Prefecture, I hope you will visit this course once.  I want you to start from Itoigawa City or to start from Joetsu City or to examine the direction of the wind and go out.  Kubikino bike path runs the waste track of the former national rail Hokuriku main line.  Here, the steam locomotive ran until the abolition in 1969.  You can see the traces on the tunnels and bridge piers of bricks.  It might be fun to go looking for these Industrial inheritance.

久比岐自転車道は上越市と糸魚川市を結ぶ全長約32㎞の大規模自転車道だ。日本海と国道８号と並行しており、海をさえぎるものがないから景色が良く、気持ちのいいサイクリングが楽しめる。長野県から日帰りで行けるので、ぜひ一度は訪れてほしいコースだ。風の影響を計算し、糸魚川からアプローチするのがいいか、直江津から西を目指す方がいいか。天気予報をよく調べてから出掛けてほしい。久比岐自転車道は、旧国鉄北陸本線の廃線跡を走る。昭和44年（1969）に廃線になるまで、なんと蒸気機関車が通っていたのだ。その面影がレンガ造りのトンネルや橋脚などの産業遺産に見てとれる。こうした遺跡を探しながら進むのも一興かもしれない。

From the Naoetsu station to the starting point of the Kubiki cycling road "Gozu" There are three routes to the intersection.  Going National Route 8 is the shortest, but there is a tunnel on the way and it is dangerous.  It is recommended to go along the sea from the Joetsu City Aquarium, but it is ups and downs are intense.  I would like to recommend a route from the north side of the Gochi Park, passing through the city.  When descending from the baseball field, the sea spreads suddenly in front of me (photo), whistling.
直江津駅から久比岐自転車道のスタート地点「郷津」交差点までは、大きく３つのルートがある。国道８号線を行くのが最短だが、途中にトンネルがあり危険だ。上越市立水族館から海沿いの道を行くものいいが、アップダウンがきつい。今回のように市街地の道を通り、五智公園の北側からアプローチするルートをお勧めしたい。びょうぶ谷野球場から下ると、急に大海原が広がり（写真）、思わず口笛を吹く。

Gozu intersection. It is a departure point of the Kubiki cycling road.  I will start with the aim of Itoigawa at last from this place.  It is 32 kilometers to the Nakajuku zone of the goal point.  A green signboard will guide us.  Because the right side of the National Route is a bike path and the sea is right next to me, I can run in a refreshing mood.
郷津交差点。久比岐自転車道の発着点だ。いよいよここから糸魚川を目指してスタートする。ゴール地点の仲宿までは32㎞。緑色の看板が誘導してくれる。国道の右側が自転車道になっていて、やや違和感があるが、海がすぐ横にあるので、爽快な気分でべダルを漕ぎ始める。

Run along National Route 8, You can see the Tanihama coast soon.  It is a familiar beach for Nagano prefecture.  The sea bathing season passed however the blue sea and the sea breeze feels good.  The worried south Wind stopped, and it seems to be able to run without the influence.
国道８号沿いに走ると、すぐに谷浜海岸が見えてくる。長野県民にとっては馴染みの海水浴場だ。シーズンはとっくに過ぎているが、広がる青い海とたおやかな潮風を感じるだけで、気持ちが高揚する。心配された南風は山を隔てているので感じないのか、それとも止んだのか影響なく走行できそうだ。

Just past the Tanihama Station, I am guiding you to cross the National Route by way of the underpass (photo).   When Crossing, it runs parallel to the left side of the National Route for a while.
谷浜駅を過ぎた所で、地下道をくぐって国道を渡るように案内板がある（写真）。横断するとしばらくの間、国道の左側を並走する。
